Habitat is a business operating in the e-commerce industry that sells a selection of South African and imported designed and made products for your home. Some of our products are made-to-order. The product selection is curated and will change from time-to-time.

Delivery Policy

HOW MUCH WILL I PAY IN DELIVERY CHARGES?

Due to the ever changing delivery fees on our large items, we invite you to make your product selection and submit as a Request for Quote. This way we can get the best delivery rates from our preferred couriers at the time and include this to the price of your product selection in our reply back to you. Please go ahead and follow the Check Out process, we will get back to you as soon as we can with a total cost including delivery.

Delivery lead times are specified on each product page. Delivery on products in stock will be between 2-5 or 10-15 working days for some outlying areas. Where a products needs to be manufactured, lead times can be between to 4-6 weeks. Although every effort will be made to ensure estimated delivery times are met, we are dependent on our manufacturers and third party transporters. Circumstances beyond the control of Habitat may cause delays. Delivery hours are between 9-5 Monday to Friday (excludes Saturdays, Sundays and Public holidays). Please allow additional time for orders shipping outside the main city centres.

We use third party transporters for the delivery of our goods, therefore please note that delivery does not include unwrapping and installation. Products must be unwrapped and inspected on delivery and Habitat must be notified immediately of any damages or imperfections. Please notify us in writing by sending an email to orders@habitatgroup.co.za within 7 working days after receiving the goods. In these cases we request that you please retain all wrapping and packaging so that we can arrange delivery of replacements as well as the safe return of the damaged products to our manufacturer. We do require that the goods be re-wrapped to the best of your ability.

If you wish to cancel your order after delivery has been made, please notify us by email at order@habitatgroup.co.za. You will receive a full refund of the purchase price less the shipping fees in both directions within 14 days of the goods being returned in the same immaculate way you received it. Please ensure all the items are packed in the original packaging and you take care to return the goods to us in the condition you received them. Custom pieces cannot be cancelled or returned after manufacturing has started.

 

Please note that orders are only placed once we have received confirmation of your payment and the payment has cleared. The manufacturing time is calculated from payment date.

Should you buy various products from different designers through one order, expect for your goods to arrive at different dates or times as separate courier parcels.

Products are shipped via a reputable courier company during office hours to your work or home address. Once your parcel has been collected by the courier company a tracking number will be made available and delivery can be expected within 1-5 working days from date of collection [depending on where you live]. Delivery will only be during office hours [09:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday] and not during weekends or public holidays.

As per our “Returns and Refunds Policy” below, goods must be inspected soonest after delivery and Habitat notified of any damage immediately. Faulty/damaged goods must be returned in their original packaging. Please note that delivery lead times quoted are estimates and while every effort will be made to ensure estimated dates are honoured, circumstances beyond our control may cause delivery dates to be changed.

Note that items will only be shipped once payment reflects in the designated bank account.

UNABLE TO DELIVER

If we are unable to delivery, we will try to find a safe secure place to leave your parcel. If we cannot find a safe and secure place, your product(s) will be returned to our depot. Please make sure to supply us with a delivery address where someone will be available to take delivery. If you are not at the delivery location at the day agreed, please contact us again to rearrange delivery for another mutually convenient day. However, we might have to charge you for the storage and redelivery of the product(s).

Returns & Refund Policy

We do follow the guidelines of the new consumer protection act which allows for a 7 day return policy. However returns will be accepted on condition that the goods have not been used and the return is executed within 7 days of delivery or pick-up of the goods.

It is ultimately the sole responsibility of the purchaser to determine that the goods purchased are suitable for the purpose of intended use. All returns must be arranged with Habitat prior to returning.

The provision of goods and services by Habitat is subject to availability. In cases of unavailability, Habitat will refund the customer in full within 14 days.Please check your items thoroughly as soon as you receive them. Products that were damaged during shipping or incorrectly supplied [e.g. wrong size, colour etc.] can qualify for a replacement product. In such an instance, Habitat will exchange the product on condition that:

  1. Habitat is contacted immediately and the return is executed within 7 days of delivery.
  2. The product is returned in its original condition and packaging
  3. The product has not been used.
  4. The product has not been washed.
  5. The product is in perfect condition with no damaged and has not been dirtied.
  6. Include a copy of the invoice with the returned goods.
  7. The customer returns the product within 7 days of receipt and confirms by sending an e-mail with photographs to Habitat. On receipt and acceptance of returned product Habitat will make all reasonable efforts to exchange said product or refund if a replacement product is unavailable.

Habitat will arrange the courier collection and cover the shipping fees for the damaged or incorrectly supplied items you wish to exchange, not wrong choice on the customers part.

For customers that cancel orders for any other reason or returns undamaged goods, the costs to return the unwanted product rests with the customer as well as the cost to send a second parcel. Habitat will arrange the courier collection from the customer’s premises. Kindly note that cancellation of orders by the client after delivery will attract a 15% administration fee on top of the costs to return the product via courier.

The manufacturing of most of our products are outsourced to third parties and are made-to-order. Once production has commenced for these orders, then cancelling your order might not always be possible. Where cancellation is possible after production has commenced, a 15% cancellation fee might be charged by the factory. Best is to contact us first to inquire about the cancellation policy for the individual product that you’re interested in.
All refunds will be processed within 14 working days.

Exchanges/ Refunds will not be given:

  1. If a client simply changes their mind or has made the wrong choice
  2. For hygiene reasons: where the client has made the wrong choice when purchasing any linen or homeware product that has been slept on or used. If you on inspection upon delivery feel that you have made the wrong choice please notify us, in certain circumstances, considered on a case to case basis, an exchange may be considered but will be subject to a 15% handling fee. In these cases where the order has already been delivered, the client will be liable for the cost of return to the supplier or to Habitat
  3. If cleaning and maintenance instructions were not followed.

  4. Please note that it may take up to three working days for your payment to reflect in our account. Orders will only be processed for delivery once the payment reflects in our account. Please email proof of payment using your name and invoice number as reference on your payment.

 

Terms of Payment:

 

  1. Payment in full or a 50% deposit (strictly orders that need to be manufactured) is required at time of placing all orders.
  2. Balance is due upon completion of order or prior to delivery or collection.
  3. No orders will be processed without deposits/payments in full.
  4. No goods will be dispatched until payment is made in full.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation of paid orders prior to delivery will be subject to a 15% handling fee. Deposits will not be refunded in the event of cancellation of already ordered and made “Custom Order” goods.

Habitat reserves the right not to accept an order under the following circumstances:

Unavailability of stock  | Inability to deliver goods to a specific area | Payment not authorised

Guarantees & Warranties

Your invoice must be retained and is required for any guarantee policy to take effect. Guarantees and Warranties vary according to product/supplier and will be null and void should the goods be tampered with, abused or used/stored outside the manufacturer specifications. We have made every effort to display as accurately as possible the colours of our products that appear on our website. We cannot guarantee that images viewed on our website are an exact colour match and are a representation of design only. Please view these images as a guideline only. The actual colour you see will depend on your computer monitor, and we cannot guarantee that your monitor’s display of any colour will be accurate. All products are supplied on the understanding that there may be slight colour variations due to the nature of fabrics, variations in dye lots and sometimes oversizing of bed linen to allow for shrinkage in high tread count products.

Country of domicile:

This site is hosted, controlled and operated from South Africa and therefore governed by South African law.

Responsibility:

Habitat takes responsibility for all aspects relating to the transaction including sale of goods sold on this website, customer service and support, dispute resolution and delivery of goods.

Product lead times and availability:

While we do try and keep the website updated with current and available products only, the provision of goods by Habitat is subject to availability. We may remove and re-introduce products from time to time. In the case where a product is sold out and have to be manufactured the lead time could vary between 1 and 6 weeks. The lead time is unique to each product and has nothing to do with the associated shipping time. Please allow for shipping time of 1 – 5 working days once dispatched. You can follow-up on the progress of your order via email or phone.
